Thanks to everyone who helps at & contributes to the Community meal!

Forth Thursday of each month

4:30-5:30 p.m.

We welcome anyone who would like to help on the Wednesday before or on the day of the Meal.

We have a lot of fun!

The Community Meal continues to be a ministry of love.

St. Philip's serves a free meal to those in need on the fourth Thursday night of each month starting at 4:30 PM. The Community Meal ministry has grown since its inception in 2008 and is now a staple in the lives of many in our community and is a central ministry of the parish. The number of guests varies from month to month but usually about 100+ meals are served.

The Community Meal is a time of fellowship as well as dining, and takes place in an environment of prayer, celebration and thankfulness. The menu changes each month and most of the food is prepared in the kitchen of the Parish House next to the church. In addition to the meal, guests are given a small supply of canned goods and bakery items. In cold weather donated winter clothing (coats, gloves, sweaters, hats, scarves) is distributed to those who need them.

Providing a meal for 200 people is a big job, and volunteers are always needed. Volunteers prepare food, greet guests, serve the meal, bus tables, wash dishes, and clean the kitchen and dining area. This is a very rewarding ministry and workers find that it is "happy work" -- the atmosphere is one of cheerfulness, thanksgiving, and love.

St. Philip's has upgraded the kitchen and replaced the roof of the Parish House to better accommodate the needs of the Community Meal ministry. Additional work and updates to the kitchen and Parish House are continuing as we continue this vital ministry.

Harrodsburg Christian Church provides deliveries to Community Meal

Many thanks to Harrodsburg Christian Church for providing their bus and a driver to bring guest food from the Community Meal. We appreciate their support and sharing in this ministry. Community Meal guests who lack transportation are very thankful for this service.

A prayer for Service

Almighty God, assist us to see your vision of the growth and vitality of St. Philip's. Help us to reach those who do not know your saving grace. Deepen our commitment; increase our faith and trust, that we may live as witnesses to you. May the Holy Spirit lead us to the service you would have us do, as servants of Christ Jesus our Lord, in whose name we pray. Amen.
