St. Philip's Episcopal Church

Clergy and Staff

St. Philip’s Episcopal Church enjoys the dedicated services of clergy, staff members and volunteers who help fulfill our mission. They include:

The Rev. Peter Doddema -- Rector

The Rev. Peter Doddema, his wife Nicole and their son Roman, reside in Harrodsburg. Peter and Nicole are natives of Kansas. They moved to Harrodsburg, from Alexandria, Virginia, where Peter attended Virginia Theological Seminary. Both Peter and Nicole enjoy music -- Peter sang in a cathedral choir for many years and Nicole has a college degree in music education and music therapy. Roman follows the family musical tradition by singing in the Danville Children's Choir.

Staff

Anne is our Parish Administrator.  She and her husband, Mark and children, Kate and Kylie, live in Harrodsburg, Anne's hometown. You will see Anne wearing many hats as she also serves St. Philip's as Treasurer and is on the Finance Committee.  Anne certainly is the eyes, ears and heart of St. Philip's.

Vestry

The Vestry is a committee elected by the congregation; the task of the Vestry is to work with the priest and to manage the temporal affairs of the parish. St. Philip's Vestry is comprised of seven members. One of the members serves as Senior Warden, a position similar to the chair of a committee. Another member serves as Junior Warden which is similar to a vice chair of a committee. Vestry members are elected to three-year terms and approximately one-third of the Vestry is elected each year. Current members of the Vestry of St. Philip's are:

  • Jamie Wince, Senior Warden (term ends in 2017)
  • Dick Webb, Junior Warden (term ends in 2017)
  • Diana Foreman (term ends in 2019)
  • Vicki Mackey (term ends in 2018)
  • Marie Rice (term ends in 2016)
  • Ian Thomas (term ends in 2018
  • Greg Yankey (term ends in 2019)

The Vestry regularly meets on the third Sunday of each month; meetings are open to any member of the parish, and any parishioner may request that an item be placed on the meeting agenda. Members of the congregation should advise a member of the Vestry of any concern regarding the work of the parish.

A Prayer for Service

Almighty God, assist us to see your vision of the growth and vitality of St. Philip's. Help us to reach those who do not know your saving grace. Deepen our commitment; increase our faith and trust, that we may live as witnesses to you. May the Holy Spirit lead us to the service you would have us do, as servants of Christ Jesus our Lord, in whose name we pray. Amen.
